Disappearing for a While

Graduation was wonderful. We're all so proud of Dylan. Going to stay away from Blogger for a little while. Should have a lot to post when I come back.

Merry Christmas to you all! Excited to see lots of you guys very soon!

Feeling Good

Feeling so much better about my little sissy wearing glasses. She's hardly even wearing them right now, but when she does I just think it's adorable. My house is so clean right now & that is a glorious thing. Dylan is finishing up his last things with classes this week & just dropped off a Great Harvest cinnamon roll for me & Sadie. All the neighbor gifts were dropped off last night. I looked at my list today & everything was crossed off except for mom's scrapbook pages. Have you girls completed those yet? I HAVE to get them done before we leave town or else I'll have a repeat of last year where I didn't do any. So not cool. Hoping to find time in the next few days. Excited for the big graduation.

ETA: We think "nerdy" is cool. Not a negative thing Dyl was saying about Sadie.

She Wears Glasses

We noticed that Sadie was looking a little cross-eyed every now & then. Took her in for an exam yesterday to find out that she is far-sighted & came home with these glasses which she needs to be wearing all the time. We're going to have to work up to that though. She is interested in them, but wants to play with them. I know they can take a lot of the handling that she'll give them, but it's hard for me to watch knowing how much they cost.

I have to admit that I had a lot of really emotional mood swings about these glasses yesterday. Felt sad that those big pretty eyes of hers that I love so much are now behind a pair of glasses & don't really look the same. And, I just felt sad to see my little baby in glasses...which I guess made me more sad because she's NOT a little baby. I found it interesting that when talking to my dad last night he said "Well, this is just what she has to deal with in this life." & I knew that, just had to cry a little & get over it. But what my dad said made me wonder I am the way I am. No wonder I can think of things in this life on a spiritual level & understand & feel peace about it....because my mom & dad are the best at that. That's how I was raised. Just thought that was so cool.

And, Dylan thinks it's cool that the little one has glasses now. He says she'll be the cute, nerdy girl. And she is still cute as can be, and still the exact same girl she was the day before, and she gave me lots of hugs & kisses this morning. How do they know when their mommas need that the most? Maybe that was a little gift from my Father in Heaven's all good.

Sad But True

I am a mother who rocks her 2 year old to sleep. It wasn't always like this. Sadie has been really good at going to sleep on her own for a long time. However, since she has started crawling out of her bed over & over & over and we keep putting her back in & then the crying starts & never stops & then it's been over an hour & the girl is still not asleep, I have resorted to rocking her. Now keep in mind that we don't have a rocking chair. No space for one. So rocking my child means me standing up, holding her over my shoulder & swaying back & forth. This has always been the way we've done it & it's been fine, but it's starting to get a little difficult as my belly grows & as Sadie grows. So I am her crutch, helping her get to sleep. It's sad but true....sometimes this child rules over us. How long this can last, I don't know.

On another note: Hooray for a removable, washable cover on our Ikea sofa. We washed that last night & I'm so pleased. Goodbye fruit snack drool & smashed in goldfish crumbs.

Just wanted to share a link to a blog I've been checking out a lot lately. Kiddley. Lots of really cool ideas of stuff you can do with your kids. The paper garland that's up over there right now is so cool!

I love our knit stockings. They aren't practical for filling though. You don't want to put anything too heavy in them. So the lovely little orange in the stocking tradition, which I'd like to keep, won't fly. Since Santa has never filled the stockings at our house we've been fine, but I may need to be replacing these in the future. They are so lovely though & Sadie's is the best little striped thing with pom poms!

From that evening at the drive-in. Ahhh, the beauty of Polaroids. I love them.

An Apron for Miss S

Another Christmas gift for Sadie finished. Actually, this is the last one that I was working on. I found this little apron at the Target dollar spot & decided to embellish it a little bit. I had loftier plans for this thing, but Dylan kept reminding me that it's just a little cheapie thing. So it's done & that's one more thing crossed off my list. Can't wait to see Sadie in it.

So, as I mentioned to Dylan this morning, I've been trying to post daily on my blog. Sometimes I just don't have anything in me, but for the most part I have been enjoying looking for something noteworthy each day. Well, I better get going with my day. Lots to do today. Making homemade chicken noodle soup for the Primary Board Meeting tonight.

Today's Project

My project for today is cleaning the stove. I am the messiest cook & this stovetop has been needing some serious attention. Lots of boiled over pots of pasta-roni when I was sick. It's gross, but I've gotta get in there & just do it.

Working on some other fun crafty stuff but I can't share any of it because they're gifts for some of you readers.

And here is a photo of Sadie from last week. It totally captures what we're going through right now with her. Potty training & saying goodbye to naps at the same time.

It's snowing out, which seems fitting. I'm enjoying it. Snow in March....don't like it so much, but for now it's good & festive & pretty. Mom, you guys are going to be cold when you come up! It will be fun though, right!

Star & Bird

On a much happier note: I made this little star ornament & am in the process of making many more to be attached to goodie plates which will be given out as our neighbor gifts this week. I'm in love with them! Love how they turned out in the American Crafts poinsettia paper. You can find the pattern for these stars here.

And because I never posted a full picture of the bird. Don't you think it's cool! I love it!

Is It Wise?.....

to publicly journal when you're feeling very emotional & moody? Oh well, here I go. I've been feeling a little down from some of the reactions from people upon finding out the sex of our new baby. Not from all of you guys, who support me so much & make me feel so good all the time. Thanks by the way for being such good friends...even the few of you that I've never met in person. You guys are the best. Anyway, there were months when I cried & felt so sad that this little baby wasn't coming sooner. We loved her & wanted her so very badly, even before we knew she'd be a girl. I feel so strongly that we are placed in certain families & even in the order we are by our Heavenly Father...for so many reasons that maybe we'll one day be able to understand. I guess I've been offended. On a personal level & on a spiritual one as well. Why can't I just let it go? There are many times in my life when I have to forget everything beyond my family. My family meaning: Me, Dylan & our kids. This is one of those times. Asking Heavenly Father to help me be more humble. Thanking Him for all of my blessings. Thanking Him for 2 girls in a row. Thanking Him for the opportunity to be a parent which helps me grow closer to Him & helps me to understand the plan of salvation even more.

Maybe laying a few of my feelings out there will help me to feel better. I do get mad at myself that I let things bother me so....but I'm a sensitive one. There's no denying that.

It's A Girl!

We're thrilled. Couldn't be more excited. It will be interesting to meet this little one and get to know her personality. I love the thought of having two girls. My mom's first two were both girls (first one born in the fall & second in the spring as well). I always thought it was cool how those two were such great helpers to my mom.

Ultrasounds are such an amazing thing. I loved getting a peek at the baby. Seeing her heart beating, her spine, brain, little legs & hands & fingers. Loved seeing her suck her thumb & open & close her mouth. SO CUTE! I wanted to hold her already. The straight on face shot still freaks me out though. Looks like an alien.

Anyway, I am so very tired right now & so very emotional. My list of things to do isn't getting any shorter either. I'm thankful for this little baby girl. I felt this way about Sadie & I feel the same about her...I know that she is who is supposed to come to our family next. So thankful to Heavenly Father for blessing us with these cute kids. Happy to know that Sadie will have a sister. Sisters are great & I love all of mine.

Ornament Tradition

I wanted to share our yearly ornaments that we have bought over the years. It's a fun tradition & I'm glad that we started it the very first year that Dylan & I were married.

2000. We bought this one at Pier 1. We decided to start the tradition, but decided that we just weren't the type of people to have a bride & groom ornament. So this is it. A big hand painted ball ornament. We thought it was cool.

2001. This little wooden star Dylan spotted at a craft fair. Thought it was cool. No real meaning behind it.

2002. The year we got Maddy. We never see things that look so much like Maddy. We couldn't pass it up. Got it home to find out that it's way too heavy to hang on our tree.

2003. The year we moved to Rexburg. Thought the snowflake was fitting. Dylan especially liked this one because it looks like a Chinese throwing star.

2004. I fell in love with this teardrop Santa Claus when we saw it at Cost Plus. Just thought it was so cool & pretty.

2005. A little crocheted snowman. Again, we got this one at Cost Plus.

2006. We picked this one up at Target pretty early this year. This one was Dylan's pick.

And just a few photos from around the house this morning. Have you tried Clementines? They are delicious, and this is all that's left from the 5 lbs. box we bought only two days ago.

The shoes at the doorway, sitting on a beach towel so the wet snow & dirt doesn't get tracked through the house. Loved the little dress up shoe right there in the row.

At the Drive In

Been needing to take some photos of Dylan so he can have one to send out with his graduation announcement. Found a little window of time today while the sun was still up. I said I wanted someplace funky. He suggested the drive-in. Which indeed ended up being very funky & very cool. Got some fun photos which I can only share this one of, because I don't want to ruin the surprise of the one he decides to print. It was 30 degrees out. We took a bunch of photos in 20 minutes & then our noses were red & our hands were cold. Brought along the polaroid & went through a roll on it. Man, I love the crappy quality of the polaroid. Somehow it makes me look better. We were out of the house for about an hour total & Sadie's pull-up was dry! Woohoo! Came home feeling so happy. I love taking pictures!

Sadie Go Potty!

These are my favorite words right now. It's what Sadie says when she needs to go. She's doing so well with potty training. It's just amazing. I think that all my happiness with her wearing panties & keeping them dry is making me handle her new no nap taking self a little better. It's just not worth the fight everyday, even though she is one big crank in the evening. Hoping one day here soon she'll get so tired she'll just ask to take a nap. She still hasn't grasped the poo poo thing yet. Trying to get her to understand that it goes in the toilet too. It will be a super good day when we cross that bridge.

I ordered this dress & it came in the mail today. Sadie had to put it right on. She loves dresses & skirts. She's a funny girl. We are getting used to living with a little girl. Don't know where my baby went.

Shaping Up to Be a Good Monday

I have so many things calling my name right now. Many chores around the house, church calling & crafts I want to do. Pushed them all aside to do a little exercising this morning. It's been SO long. I have so many squishy, saggy body parts all the sudden. Okay, gotta wasn't a very long workout....gotta work myself up to it.

The big thing this morning is that Sadie has been wearing panties all morning with no major accidents. I'm so happy that she's into this right now. I'm so happy that her body is finally ready. I think this is the looking back.

We have a fun little family home evening planned tonight. Got some fun mail today. Life is good.

Hope you all are having a good start to your week too. Simple pleasures are good at this stressful time of year.

December is finally here! Turned the calendar over today. Already a few things listed, with more that haven't been jotted down yet. Starting to feel a little stress with things to prepare for the big graduation & family coming into town & Christmas too. Realizing that a written list works better than a mental list. Making preparations for a happy little celebration & looking forward to honoring my guy. Feeling like a proud wife.
