Quilting Itch

I'm really enjoying quilting these days. I'm working on a few basic patchwork block quilts for the shop update. I'm aiming for Tuesday of next week. Are you excited? Combining the fabrics has been the most exciting to me lately & I keep having lots of fun, new ideas come to mind as I go along. Hopefully, I'll be able to make some larger quilts soon. Oh! Be on the lookout for a few mini quilts with this update as well. The little ones have got me all worked up too! :)

how on earth do you get your lines to evenly spaces???? Do you also have a walking foot or something? When I tried sewing across my quilt, everything got all bunched up. Oh, and what batting do you use? lol! questions questions questions...

Can I ask why you have the safety pins?! Is it to mark where you want your quilting stitch to go!?

thanks,
Shannon

Ollie,

are you asking about my stitching lines? I use a yard stick & mark my lines with a fade away pen, then stitch right over. i use a cotton batting. the ones that have a natural color to them. They are a lot easier to get through your machine then the fluffy, white polyester kind. I don't have a walking foot. Didn't come with my machine & I haven't purchased one yet, so I just use the regular foot.

Shannon,

the safety pins are used to "baste" the quilt together. I pin through all 3 layers all over the quilt & that holds it in place while I do my stitching.

I swear I do not know how you make time to do all you do with two little girls. Someday maybe I can be as cool as you...
