I just finished making a new bag as an early birthday present to myself. I used the Everything Tote pattern from Weekend Sewing. The description in the book reads, "This bag is perfect for weekends and weekdays, with an expanding shape that can hold an unexpectedly large cache of paperwork, groceries, workout gear, books, etc." And that is exactly what drew me to this pattern in particular. I tried it out today & ended up throwing in a good stack of library books in addition to my regular stuff (wallet, diaper/wipes, sippy cup & snacks). They fit in comfortably & I still had room for more!
The rosettes were made following this tutorial from Made by the Mama Monster. There will definitely be more frayed rosettes in my life. I'm sure of it. Very easy & super cute.

Cute! The frayed rosettes are adorable!
This is fabulous! What kind of fabric did you use on the outside and where did you get the inside fabric???
Thanks girls.
Andrea,
I'm not sure what the outer fabric is. A tweed, I think....but i used it inside out. The fabric had some black flocked floral design that just wasn't me. I used a vintage sheet for the lining.
Will some be going in the shop? Fingers crossed...
Pretty please...
love it. happy early birthday!
i love it! and good for you for making something for yourself. thanks for linking to my rosettes.
i love the colors you chose. i made some frayed rosette clippies as favors for my daughters bday! love em. so adorable!
I love it, Candace! If you add any to the shop please let me know - I want one for my birthday, too :)
Your bag looks really great. I love it. Can I ask the yardage used to make it? I saw this gorgeous fabric just earlier today, but didn't know what I would make with it - until now.
So cute - and I love those rosettes!
I'm not planning to sell these, since it's not my pattern. But perhaps something similar? We'll see.
Lisa,
The pattern called for 1/2 yard of fabric. But that clearly wasn't correct. It took one yard.
It's so great! Lucky you!
I love it!! I am so excited for the upcoming crafts!! The rosettes are so cute!!
i totally love this - what a perfect gift for yourself (or anyone)! the rosettes are the perfect little bonus. :)
I love it! I've been eyeing this bag since I bought the book weeks ago. I want to make one but think I should finish all my other projects before I start something new.
fabulous!
I'd like to try those rosettes - they're adorable!!
thanks for sharing.
A.
I love that bag! It is a little above my level of sewing but sooo adorable. I need to try those flowers though! I made a shirt like you made Sadie I will have to post a pic on my blog. It didn't turn out right but I still love it and Iris was so happy to have something made for her. Makes it all the more worth it!
What a great tote! It would indeed be great for a diaper bag alternative as far as style goes :).
Liked that one!
Great bag!!!! I am almost done with a ruffle sleeve top for my little one. I will let you know when I am done!
very cute-I'm glad you got to make something just for you. You deserve it! Love the color choices too!
Cute cute cute! Isn't it nice to remember that we can make things for ourselves once a while too?
Hey Candace! I love your website and more importantly, I love your style! I was wondering if you could help me with a problem. I love making gifts for loved ones for Christmas, but I've just about run out of ideas. I also really wanted to make an advent calendar for my kids this year and obviously needed to think ahead of time to get it done. I was wondering if you either had some ideas or could point me in the right direction. I can sew, knit, and crochet and I'm willing to try just about anything else. Hope it's not too much to ask! thanks!
It's just lovely. Love the colour combo!
That bag is great. I really need a big bag for all my junk that I carry to church. And Mama Monsters rosettes are awesome, just like her.
Love the fabric choices here, sweets. Isn't that vintage sheeting the very best??? I buy it every time I can in that color. I swear it works with everything.
Best to you right now... I know things are all wonky, but they will right themselves, I promise. Hugs, girl. xoxo
