Found Chairs Made Over

Remember those chairs that I picked up off the curb?  Well, I've finally finished them & could not be happier with how they turned out.  Take a look at how they originally looked:

I ripped off the old fabric.  Gave the frames a couple coats of dark brown paint.  Then added a piece of foam to the seats & covered them in new fabric.  I also added a clear vinyl covering to the seats.  I just had to do it, otherwise these chairs would not survive my kids.  Plus they are going to be dining table chairs & lots of food will be around.  Check out how snazzy they look now:

Hooray for two new fancy looking chairs that cost me very little!  :)

I understand the plastic thing. Fabric and children don't mix-just ask my kitchen chairs :)

very cool! i am doing the same thing to my dining room chairs! 3 kiddos plus food = dirty/ was it easy to put the vinyl over the fabric? what weight did you use?

Pretty! I'm kind of sad about painting them, but there are some things you just can't fix without paint! The fabric was an excellent choice for the seats.

I just showed these to my husband. What a transformation out of chairs from the curb. It's funny how we can see something that old and ugly being something so chic and modern. Nice work. I followed your blog to see more. Thanks.

Absolutely gorgeous and brilliant idea. I've recovered the chairs in my kitchen about five times. I was thinking about oil cloth this time around, but clear vinyl over a nice fabric sounds like a much better idea!

Where did you get that fabric?? I want to reupholster my dining room chairs in that and clear vinyl -brilliant. Our kids have destroyed our current ones. Seriously, can you tell us where you got the fabric? thanks!
