Thrifting Report

Last week was a great week for pyrex finds.  I found four pieces in really super excellent condition.  I am in love with the large blue snowflake bowl & the butterfly gold pieces are pretty great too.  I really like the shape of the crazy daisy piece as well.  They look like a happy little pyrex family.  :)

I acquired a few sheets as well.  The pink rose pattern is one I've had before, but used all up.  So I'm really happy to get my hands on another one.  My little sister found & bought the yellow plaid for me.  Isn't that the sweetest?  I am always excited to have plaids, stripes, polka dots, etc. to go along with all of my florals.

A little tip for finding good stuff at the thrift stores:  Go often!  I stop in at my closest Goodwill store at least once a week.  Sometimes twice a week.  It's easy for me to spot what's new & I can look over the whole store in about 15 minutes.  Your odds of finding treasures go up when you're able to check in often.

I completely agree! I stopped in at mine today and will show what I picked up tomorrow. I had my hands on a white sheet with mod yellow circles/ovals and the occasional black one but it was a tad too thin so I put it back. How do you choose which ones to buy?

I will leave the sheets if they are too thin, stained or dingy. I really look for bright ones & the crisper the fabric the better, if that makes sense. Just ones that have been gently used.

You must have the best goodwill on the planet because I go several times a week, to two different ones, and never find a pyrex dish!! maybe they know I'm coming and stash them away?? :)

I just added a few more pieces to my Pyrex collection too (posted here http://pinksuedeshoe.com/2011/01/06/pretty-pretty-pyrex/). And I love those two sheets, I've never seen either of them before. For sheets that are too thin, depending on the project, you can use some really lightweight fusible interfacing ironed onto the back. That will give them a little more oomph and help them stand up to wear and tear better. I'm loving that big snowflake blue cinderella bowl. So so pretty!

Oooh Candace your bowls are so pretty. I recently discovered Pyrex and found around 15 beautiful pieces at a thrift store at 50% off. I don't think I'll have a better score this year. I've had no luck with sheets but yours are delightful.

I blogged about them here if you want to see:

These are amazing finds. I bet my local Goodwill must have these types of beauties too, but I am not there in time to snatch them. I am going to go tomorrow :)

I'm here from V and Company, and just had to say that I have two of the white with green daisies pyrex bowls. And believe it or not, they both actually had the glass lids with them as well. Major score for me! LOL
