T-Shirt Nightgowns

The growing stack of adult size t-shirts in the donate pile has been staring at me.

So I turned some into summer night gowns for the girls.  My girls really love these nightgowns.  I think because they are super comfortable.

I love them because I think they are adorable, plus they save me money on pajamas.  I can't even tell you the last time I shopped for kids pajamas.  I just refuse to pay for them when I can make nightgowns, pajama pants & shorts for nothing.

Who needs Disney princess nightgowns when you've got these?!

Want to convert some of your old t-shirts into kids nightgowns?  Check out my tutorial here.

very cute. my favorite jammies as a kid were always my parents old t-shirts. my favorite was my dad's high school diving team shirt. i've been thinking about that lately and have been wishing i'd saved some of my sentimental shirts from high school (like from volleyball, plays i was in, favorite bands, etc.).

I tried these when you first put up the tutorial and they were super easy! Unfortunately my 3 year old will only wear pink so I am on the lookout for pink shirts while thrifting!

These are so cute. I've had my eye on these since you first posted about them a while back. I have a new sewing machine and two growing little girls, I might need to weed out my husbands t-shirt collection and make them some nightgowns. Thanks, and I love your blog.

I am so happy you blogged about these nightgowns again because I never commented the first time you wrote about them - and I have to say a HUGE thank you!!! After you posted about them last year I immediately ran to a thrift store, picked up a stash of cool t-shirts (and I’m constantly on the look-out for new ones, so I have a nice big stash of ones waiting to be made into nighties) and immediately made my daughter a big batch of nighties. I love, love, love these nightgowns and so does my 4 year old! It's crazy, but the only nightgowns for my daughter that I ever liked were hand-me-downs that were wonderful cotton print nightgowns - ones that I would probably never consider buying because they were too pricey - and I've never liked the feel of the fabric of the nightgowns in places like Gymboree, The Gap, Children's Place or any other kid stores. But t-shirt nightgowns are amazing – thank you so much for the tutorial!
