Daily Photo :: 16

Today we found out that Finn has asthma & we've been thrown into the world of nebulizer breathing treatments.  Life was just so much better when I was still in the dark about those things.

I am sad that he has asthma, but then again I'm not.  At this point in my life I know that it could always be much worse.

holy moly! that is such a sad picture. what is going on?? You haven't mentioned anything about this. has he had a hard time breathing?? this lil boy of yours sure is giving you a run for your money!
great perspective though, you're awesome.
baylor just mentioned last night in fam prayer (FINN!) and we tried to tell him Finn was all better, but he was having none of it- so just know our guy has your guy's back! xoxo

I'm so sorry to hear that Finn has asthma. If it's any consolation, Luke has had a problem with his trachea since he was a baby, which makes a simple cough with a cold into a croupy nightmare but he has grown to LOVE using the nebulizer :-) He actually asks sometimes to "breathe", even when he's not sick! I've heard ki ds can outgrow asthma...is that true?

I'm so sorry to hear that. After an emergency ride in an ambulance last week, we found out that my Oliver has asthma too. It is not fun in the least bit (he's 4 though and does great with the treatments) but you are so right - I keep telling myself that in the scheme of things, it could be so much worse. I had asthma as a child and grew out of it, I'm hoping that's the case for Finn (and Oliver) too.

Aww poor Finn. I have had asthma since I was born and I have been extremely lucky never to have been admitted to hospital from it. My cousin has also had it since he was born and has only been admitted to hospital twice when he was very young. He played footy his whole highschool life and never had a problem with sport. As you said in the scheme of things it isn't that bad. He could grow out of it and it might not impact on his life too much. From one asthmatic to another I really hope it never gets too serious for him.

That picture is so sad. I have a friend whose 3 year old was just diagnosed last summer with asthma. Before his diagnosis, he got sick all the time (pretty much every 3 weeks) and would wheeze and cough and have trouble breathing. This went on for 2 1/2 years. Since his diagnosis, he rarely gets sick and when he does catch a cold, it is not very bad. It is lucky they found it early. Good luck!

one of my little guys had an asthma attack when he was about 2- but he is 16 now and no problems at all! hopefully Finn will outgrow it!

Memories... My little guy is 7 now and can't believe he ever got as upset as we tell him he used to. He would arch his back and cry so hard, I couldn't imagine he was still inhaling enough for the treatment to work at times! Strangely, we found one thing that would alleviate his displeasure. We would sing the chorus of that song that goes,"Ay, ay, ay, ay...canta, no llores... We only knew the chorus and the only reason I sang it one day was because I knew it meant "sing, don't cry" and it worked! We also squeaked his favorite squeaky toy as a distraction, which usually helped a little. So silly! Oh- and no breathing problems since infancy, so don't think this an automatic predictor of his future health.
